Hi, I’m Katie, the owner of Katie’s Happy Hounds. I’ve grown up around dogs since I was young, and they played a huge part in helping me manage anxiety as a child. Because of that, caring for dogs has always felt completely natural to me, and over the years, it’s become something I genuinely love and feel confident doing.

I’ve built up a lot of hands‑on experience over the years, including volunteering at a vets, kennels, and a greyhound rescue centre. I’ve also been dog sitting for around five years and have worked with every kind of temperament you can imagine, from very nervous dogs who need a gentle approach to the super energetic ones who are always ready for an adventure. I’m confident handling them all. My approach is simple: I adapt to each dog’s personality, so they feel comfortable, safe, and understood.

Alongside my practical experience, I’ve also invested in my education. I completed an Extended Diploma in Animal Management (Level 3), I’m currently working through a Level 3 Dog Walking and Dog Sitting course, and I’ll be starting a Canine Behaviour and Training online course in September 2026. My long‑term goal is to become a canine behaviourist, so working with a wide variety of dogs and clients is incredibly valuable — it allows me to put my learning into practice and deepen my understanding of how different dogs think, feel, and communicate

I’m based in Hertford and cover surrounding areas including Ware, Hoddesdon, Harlow, Welwyn Garden City, Broxbourne, Cheshunt, and other nearby Hertfordshire locations. Building a bond with both the dog and the owner is important to me, and I always prioritise fun, routine, and comfort so your dog feels completely at ease in my care. I’ve often been told I’m very trustworthy, and I want you to feel confident and relaxed whenever your dog is with me.

At home, I have my own dog, Oscar. He’s the black and white cockapoo you’ll spot on the website. He’s incredibly sociable, so if your dog is happy around others, there’s a good chance they’ll get to know him too. He’s a big part of my daily routine and always joins me on walks.

When I’m not out with the dogs, you’ll usually find me hiking, at the gym, playing cricket, reading, or practising piano.

I treat every dog as if they were my own, and my goal is always the same: to make sure your dog feels happy, safe, and comfortable, and that you feel completely confident leaving them with me.
